Evan Dias the markerting cool guy that’s on staff at Adventures in Missions talks to us every friday about the different ways we can share with our people what we’re doing here most effectively. the point that he has revisited multiple times is “Share the story of what God is doing in the world because that is what Jesus did”, it’s all about storytelling. God can do great things but if we’re not sharing it to the world, we’re losing goodddd opportunity to share Him.
As we spent some time in Louisiana this storytelling aspect of christianity kept coming up, as we fixed people’s homes we also have the opportunity to share Jesus with them; I get anxious about doing this I just want it to happen, but i’m slowly realizing it isn’t up to me, but rather the Holy Spirit in and through me.
Tuesday night in DeQuincy, LA, i was sitting in the parking lot of the church we had been staying at, on my phone ( bc it was the only place with decent service) when i realized i got a text from a girl i hadn’t talked to in a couple months. a little back story: she lost her mom in July and I had reached out to let her know i’m here if she ever wanted to talk. So i had just assumed she wanted to talk about ya know dead mom stuff. As soon as I said “hey” back one of my friends asked me to go inside because we needed to pray over someone in our squad. the prayer request was heavy so we spent a while in prayer as well as in worship. as we were worshipping, this girl was heavy on my heart, i knew it wasn’t an appropriate time to go on my phone and respond so i just asked that God be there with her with whatever she was dealing with because I couldn’t right now. after we wrapped up worship i went outside to get connection again. she had texted me asking if there were any apps or ways that she could get to know God.
uhhhh wow God. thanks God. I asked Him to show up and He did way more than I could have ever imagined . I told her I think the best way to start is get a bible and read the gospel to learn what Jesus did for all of us and also that I would love to get on facetime with her and share what Gods been doing in my life.
I was reminded of what Evan reminds us of every week that we need to share what God is doing in the world. Amongst the 5 people we’ve helped lead to Christ here and crazy stories like this, if all I have to do is share a God story on my blog to help inspire someone to know Him deeper, then I’ll be here writing blogs.
I luv u
and so does Jesus,
