shoveling changed my life.
costa rica hasn’t been the easiest season. it’s been actually really hard for me.
from the spiritual battle thats caused physical pain & sickness. 80% humidity thats led to moldy everything. food that’s given parasites. lots of hard manual labor that seemed never ending and wasn’t always the funnest .& ive lost count of the amount of times i’ve shoveled gravel. also trying to live in the middle of soaking in every minute of the race but living with anticipation & preparation of what going home will look like.
this difficult season taught me a lot. a lot about my character, the character of my squad mates and most importantly the character of God. He is a never changing God but is constantly revealing a new part of Himself to His children. fresh manna baby!!
i could have left each pile i shoveled or each manual labor day far in the past but i’ve let it teach me and i’ve let it change me. ive grown in a sense of gratitude, joy, intentionality & overall desire to build the kingdom (sometimes literally).
the truth is anything can change our lives if we allow it to.
the people we surround ourselves with, the media we put our noses in, the food we eat... the things we’ve called “good” or the things we’ve deemed “bad”. right or wrong. small or big. if we give ourselves the opportunity to be changed by things, it’ll happen. if we give things the authority to change us, they will.
so with that... what are the things you’ve allowed to change you? are they worldly or are they eternal?
“Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.” Colossians 3:2
