Hi!!!!

Just wanted to write an update to let everyone know what life looks like right now. About two weeks ago, my squad and I all left for thanksgiving break for 9 days (at least we thought). I went home with my team to my sweet friend abby’s house.  While living our best lives in Arkansas we found out we were exposed to COVID before we left Georgia and needed to quarantine. Because of multiple squads having outbreaks we found out that we weren’t going back  to Georgia until our launch to Guatemala in January. So what we thought was going to be a 9 day break quickly turned into a 6 week break. I also tested positive for the second time (real fun).

I’ve had quite a bit of time to stop, think, pray, and just hang out with God (and graceyn) a lot . One morning my team leader but not really my team leader Nikki (lol idk) texted us “philippians 4:11-13”. Everybody knows Philipians 13 but the context is just so good. It says “Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” I feel like this verse and abundance is what God is speaking over this weird unexpected time of transition in life.

I am not living abundantly because of  the things that I have or because of the amount of people that are around me (which happens to only be one) but because I am welcomed into complete wholeness from the Father no matter where I am. This season was not expected to end with facetime goodbyes or zoom debriefs but I am grateful and blessed and still living abundantly because God knew this was the plan all along.

Also fun news: my new team chose our name : jubilee!!! Meaning in biblical terms and the words of my smart friend Claire: a restoration, a celebration, an abundance; it is the freeing of the captives and the comfort for those who mourn. Gooddddd stuff!!

thanks for reading!!

luv u mucho. mean it.

  1. Kayla, I just love you. You have so much spunk and yet meekness. This has not been a fun 10 days for you “locked in the basement” in quarantine but there is abundance of spirit that is evident. Thanks for sharing your heart. Big hugs (well not just yet) At least you haven’t needed your boot! Tomorrow will be a day of Jubilee as you are freed from confinement. Bless you my friend.

  2. I have loved getting to share a house with you the past two weeks even if it’s a little different than normal (lol)! I just love you, your heart, and your passion for Abba. Thanks God that we can always choose into abundance 🙂

  3. kayla, i’m so encouraged by your perspective and abundance in God through all the changes / unexpected / challenges of this season!!
