Hi!
Long time, no blogging
I am excited to be updating everyone with a very important World Race change. Because of the uncertainty of being able to travel internationally safely, Adventures in Missions leadership made the decision to offer the choice to all gap year squad members of choosing to defer to a 2021 gap year, a 6 month mission trip beginning in January, or to spend 3 months at the AIM headquarters in Gainesville, GA doing missional and discipleship training with hopes of leaving internationally in January.
Receiving the news that my gap year will no longer be what I had planned it to be wasn’t easy, but I am confident that the Lord wouldn’t leave me in the middle of something he called me to. “…being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it out until completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6 NIV (my fav verse!!) I know that the Lord is still calling me to everything that is in GA, and because I serve a faithful and steadfast God, I will continue to say “yes” to His calling. I am so stoked for what He’s got in GA. I am so excited to spend time in a great community, and the opportunity to serve and know the Lord in a new setting.
I love including scripture in my blogs to highlight the actual words that have and always will be true,,, but I have found great peace and comfort in specific worship songs in this time of change that I wanted to include:
Nothing I Hold Onto- Will Reagan, United Pursuit
“ I give it all to you God
Trusting that you’ll make something beautiful out of me.”
“I will climb this mountain with my hands wide open.”
This song I listened to on repeat while praying about the change of plans, the words reflected the idea of surrendering to God with hands wide open. For me, surrendering looked like saying YES to what I know God is still calling me too.
In the Hands of the Potter- Casting Crowns
“My world is spinning, my life seems so out of control
Nailed, scarred hands tells the story of love that will never let me go
Through sunshine or rain, I know where my hope is found
What you started in me, I know You will complete from the inside out.”
Alsoooo, I still have a fundraising goal of $15,800, and have recently reached halfway (!!!!). I am so so so grateful for every single person that has prayed, donated, or listened to me as I talk about the race 🙂 Also shoutout God, because HE did all this!!
Love,
Kayla
